Bilateral Meetings

  • 28.01.2014 Friday (01:20 pm - 04:40 pm)

BTDC – the state-owned enterprise that operates the world-famous Nusa Dua Complex at the southernmost tip of Bali – was established in 1973 after an exhaustive study by The World Bank and the Government of Indonesia that sought to create an integrated and environmentally sustainable model of tourism development.

Over the past four decades Nusa Dua has repeatedly hosted the world’s kings, presidents and state ministers attending important major international summits that also brought the world’s media to Bali. The United Nations Conference on Climate Change was held in Bali in December 2007, and the APEC Summit will again convene world leaders in Bali at
Nusa Dua in late 2013.

Most importantly, all this has been achieved with close adherence to the Balinese tenet of Tri Hita Karana - the Balinese belief that harmony must always be maintained between God, man and nature. A major player in Bali’s economy, the hotels and tourism businesses operation at BTDC provide valuable foreign exchange, employment and valuable tax revenues to Bali. Young Balinese men and women who received their first jobs in tourism in 1973 at BTDC are now retiring from lucrative careers, handing the responsibility of looking after the island’s guests to their children and grandchildren who now work at BTDC.
